This is a special time to be a part of the Emmanuel family. My meetings with parents, children and youth of the parish have been very helpful in beginning to discern the direction of Emmanuel’s ministry to children and youth. From the meetings I have identified three goals for the coming months.
In addition to these goals, the coming year will see an evaluation of our current offerings to children and youth with special attention to how these ministries fulfill Emmanuel’s mission to welcome, worship, witness, and serve. For instance, ministry to youth should be welcoming to parents and youth. The youth group should provide teens with opportunities to worship in age-appropriate ways. Youth programming should teach teens how to live as Christians in the world, witnessing their faith. The youth group should also provide opportunities for youth to serve their community and the world. The best way to fulfill the mission of the parish in each ministry to children and youth will be assessed in these terms over the coming year.
