It's Official!
Dear Emmanuel parish members,
It is with great excitement and heartfelt thanksgiving that the Rector Call Commission and the Vestry of Emmanuel Church announce the upcoming arrival of the Reverend William Hunt Priest. He currently serves St. Paul’s Church, Newnan, Georgia, in the Diocese of Atlanta.
Hunt will be arriving in the Seattle area the first week of June with his wife Lisa and his 8 year old son, Will. He will begin working the week of June 9th and first serve at the altar on June 22nd as he and his family will be “in the pews” on June 15th. Following the 10:30 service we will have an all-parish family picnic for celebration and welcome of the Priest family. Please plan on attending this very special event!
The first few months for a new rector can be an overwhelming time as he gets his family settled and gets to know the staff and people of a new congregation. Lisa, Will and Hunt have also left family and good friends behind and will be getting used to life in a brand new city in a different part of the country.
Hunt has expressed a deep interest in meeting with the various ministry groups, but all in good time. Let’s all be respectful of this new beginning and give Hunt and his family plenty of time to settle in. As part of his plan to get to know everyone, he has asked each parish member/family to provide a photograph, brief bio and answers to a couple of questions about your life at Emmanuel. You’ll find a blank form with this letter.
Look for a box in the narthex for collecting these or feel free to mail or drop to the office. As part of Hunt’s arrangement with Emmanuel, we will be providing a 3BR/2BA rental home on Mercer Island for them for at least their first year here. Since the best rentals are often found through word of mouth, we’re asking that if you know of or own such a property in great condition to please contact Marilee Clarke. These are exciting times for Emmanuel Church and the future looks exceptionally bright!
