SAC Outreach: This Advent and Christmas Season, in addition to other outreach efforts, the SAC is supporting The Sophia Way Shelter with meal preparation and delivery to the shelter at Bellevue First Congregational Church. A program of the Eastside Interfaith Social Concerns Council, the mission of The Sophia (Greek word for “Wisdom”) Way is to help end homelessness in East King County by providing support services, overnight shelter, and one-bedroom apartments to women transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing and an independent, stable life. Currently, this is the only staffed overnight shelter for single adult women on the Eastside, open from 7pm to 7am every day of the year (at BFCC weekdays and at host churches on weekends.)
You can help by signing up to prepare or purchase requested menu items and/or to coordinate the food delivery to the shelter on Tuesday December 29 All items must be delivered to Emmanuel Church by 5:30 pm. For information about what menu items or food delivery is needed, please contact Anna Gordon at 206-236-4780, or almcgordon@msn.com. What a wonderful way to serve during the Advent and Christmas season! Thank you for participating!
